## Beginner Herbal Protocol for Insulin Resistance

**For Traditional Herbal Education**

### HOW TO USE THIS PROTOCOL

Choose **ONE herb** from the Core Herbs below, or combine **2–4 herbs in equal parts** to make a formula.

You do **not** need to take every herb listed.

### OPTION 1 — TINCTURE

Prepare each individual herb as a **1:5 tincture**, or combine selected herbs in equal parts and prepare the entire blend as a **1:5 tincture**.

**Dose:**
Take **1–3 mL, 3 times daily with meals**.

When using a combination tincture, take approximately **3 mL TOTAL per dose** — not 3 mL of every herb.

### OPTION 2 — TEA

Use **2 teaspoons total** of one herb or a combination of herbs per **8 oz hot water**.

Cover and steep for **15 minutes**.

Drink **8 oz, 3 times daily**, preferably around meals.

## CORE HERBS

**Cinnamon**
1–3 mL, 3 times daily with meals

**Fenugreek**
1–3 mL, 3 times daily with meals

**Gymnema**
1–3 mL, 3 times daily with meals

**Bitter Melon**
1–3 mL, 3 times daily with meals

### SIMPLE BEGINNER COMBINATION

Combine equal parts:

**Cinnamon + Fenugreek + Gymnema**

Prepare as a **1:5 tincture**.

Take approximately **3 mL of the combined tincture, 3 times daily with meals**.

## OTHER HERBS TO CONSIDER

These can be used individually or incorporated into a more advanced formula:

**Barberry Root**
**Oregon Grape Root**
**Goldenseal Root**
**Coptis Root**
**Turmeric Root**

These herbs do not all need to be taken together.

## SCHEDULE

Take the selected herbs **3 times daily**.

**6 days on • 1 day off**

Use consistently while also addressing diet, exercise, sleep, and other lifestyle factors that influence blood-sugar regulation.

### IMPORTANT

Herbs that affect blood sugar may **add to the effects of diabetes medications** and could contribute to low blood sugar. Anyone taking insulin or glucose-lowering medication should work with a qualified healthcare professional and monitor blood glucose.

This protocol is for **traditional herbal education** and is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.
