Section 107 of the Copyright Act, also known as the “Fair Use” doctrine, establishes a statutory framework for determining if a use of copyrighted material is fair. The section lists examples of uses that may qualify as fair use, such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
